Toddler Program

Growing Independence, One Step at a Time (16 months - 24 months)

At Bright Beginnings Preschool, our Toddler Program is thoughtfully designed to nurture exploration and growth for children aged 16 months to 2 years. We recognize this as a pivotal stage for fostering independence, building social skills, and inspiring curiosity about the world around them.

Learning Through Hands-On Play

Our Toddler Exploration curriculum, developed and continually updated by our Founder, Kathe Petchel, keeps toddlers active and engaged all day. Designed to honor their energy and curiosity, it balances one-on-one time, side-by-side play with friends, and small group learning.

With a focus on individualized pacing, activities are tailored to each child—allowing them to linger in favorite areas or explore new ones. By blending active and quiet play with teacher-guided and child-initiated activities, we support every aspect of toddler development!

Outdoor Time and Sensory Play

Outdoor time is a vital part of toddler life at Bright Beginnings. Children explore nature, expand their gross motor skills, and stretch their imagination through sand, water, and open-ended materials. Whether digging, running, or quietly observing the world around them, toddlers enjoy the fresh air and space to grow.

Families Are Our Partners

We value open, ongoing communication with families. Teachers keep you informed with daily photos and notes, weekly updates, and warm conversations at pickup. You’ll always feel connected to your child’s learning and care—and you’re welcome to share your voice every step of the way.

Supporting Big Emotions and Growing Independence

Big feelings are a big part of toddlerhood. We guide children with patience and care as they navigate emotions, social interactions, and independence. Teachers help children name their feelings, model how to work through frustration, and celebrate every success—from putting on a jacket to sharing a toy.

Consistent Routines, Safe Spaces

Consistency is key during the toddler years. Our full-time schedule helps children settle into predictable routines that promote confidence, comfort, and deeper relationships with their caregivers. A familiar rhythm to the day supports smoother transitions, fewer meltdowns, and a greater sense of security as toddlers explore their world.
